Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka– Independent filmmaker Sisara Sanal is looking to secure production support and financial backing for his next feature, "The Rift," a science fiction horror film that merges internet culture with extraterrestrial dread.
About the Director
At 33, Sanal brings a wealth of industry experience spanning directing, cinematography, and visual effects. His filmmaking career took root in 2009 at Teleview Technology Academy, where he built the technical foundation that would shape his professional path.
Over the past 15 years, Sanal has crafted multiple short films that showcase his range and thematic interests. His portfolio includes "Haki Da" and "Kin Sachcha 9: What's the Truth?," both exploring Buddhist narratives, alongside genre work like the zombie short "Messenger" and the sci-fi piece "PC Virus."
His Buddhist-focused films garnered two awards at the Asia Film Festival, which opened doors to work on the international production "Sri Siddhartha Gauthama" as an assistant director and camera department member. Sanal then deepened his post-production expertise through a decade-long tenure at Chimera Motion Pictures, specializing in visual effects and editing.
The Film
